Drug and alcohol arrests at campuses in Pennsylvania

Certain things have the potential to have major impacts on a college student’s future. One is being arrested in connection to allegations of drug or alcohol crimes. A recent report suggests that such arrests might be a particularly common sight at Pennsylvania campuses.

The report was by Project Know. Among the things the report looked at were alcohol and drug arrests at U.S. colleges and universities. This includes both public and private schools. It did this analysis by reviewing U.S. Department of Education data regarding 2016.

According to the report, U.S. college and universities saw an average of 3.4 arrests related to drugs or alcohol for every 1,000 students. Pennsylvania’s average, meanwhile, was found to be over double this national average. Specially, schools in the state saw 7.3 such arrests per 1,000 students.

The report also contained a list of the 25 schools found to have the highest rates of drug/alcohol arrests. Pennsylvania schools played a very prominent role on this list. Of the colleges and universities on the list, 11 were from Pennsylvania. And it was a Pennsylvania school, Shippensburg University, that held the No. 1 spot on the list.

What do you think is contributing to the high drug/alcohol arrest rates at Pennsylvania schools?

Charges of on-campus drug or alcohol crimes could potentially put a wide range of things at risk for a college student. This includes his or her financial well-being, educational future, professional future and freedom. So, what steps college students take to protect their future after a drug or alcohol arrest matters greatly. Skilled college crime defense attorneys can help students with such steps.
