A 50-year-old man is in custody following an accident police believe may have been predicated on intoxication. Officers in Plumstead Township, Pennsylvania, arrested the man under suspicion of drunk driving. Charges will be filed by way of summons, and so far no court date has been announced.

Police say the Doylestown man struck a parked car with his vehicle around 3:45 a.m. the morning of April 1. Officers were called to the scene, and reported that the man showed signs of alcohol intoxication, though they did not elaborate on what those signs might have been. Police took the man into custody and brought him to a local hospital, where he willfully submitted to a blood test.

The results of the test have not been made public at this time. It is also unclear whether the man remains in police custody or if he has been released on his own recognizance or on bail.

When he does appear in court, he will be represented by a criminal defense attorney. This attorney will carefully review the facts of his case to determine whether the charge of drunk driving is an appropriate one.

Any evidence the Pennsylvania prosecutors choose to bring to the court will be scrutinized for applicability, and the arrest report will also be reviewed to ensure the man’s rights were respected throughout the arrest process. These steps are taken to ensure that those facing these situations have a consistent, thorough defense against the charges filed against them in the hope that they will be able to avoid jail time and/or the loss of their licenses.
